I am a landscape designer. I would appreciate any input regarding best surface treatments and step height/width for safety for an older person.
There are currently 5 steps with a 7-1/2" rise, and a 10"x 30" tread. Straight up. I would like to curve the steps and walkway in a gentle arc, adding at least 1 landing, and tie into a dry laid stone retaining wall. Thanks.

If you have the length double the tread length and half the riser height.

That sounds like a reasonable plan. You may also want to add traction to each step. This way in the winter there is no slippage.

Surface should be broom finished, make risers 6" tall( much more confortable/safe for kids and older people) and thread
14" (big footers will find full support), width and shape is completly up to you(4 feet is most common), dont forget the railings or safety walls.Take your time, steps are hard.
Good luck

with cr2 on that , 6 inch is a pretty comfortable rise hieght. when you get down to 5 or more so under five , it is really considered , ... tripping.
