I've found a lot of conflicting information about what you can use as a releasing compound for concrete forms. Our project is too small to warrant paying 50 to 200 bucks for gallons of industrial form releasing oil so making our own seems to be the best option. Our forms will be simple pine lumber. I am considering painting polyurethane on the wood first and using vegetable oil (cut with some mineral oil?) on top of that. Or possibly just some Pam cooking spray. The main reason we think we need this is because we are pouring a cube-shaped block of concrete with a hollow in the middle. We need to be able to construct the central square from wood and pull it straight up and out once the concrete is cured. Anyone have any input? Thanks!
